Poker Chips

Now poker is the card game of kings but no self-respecting poker player should be playing with tatty cards and spare buttons.

And this is where these fantastic sets of poker chips come in as they are mainly of a casino quality and so have that heavy feel to them that makes them very cool indeed. And the poker sets usually include a couple of sets of quality cards too (always good to have a spare!) and so offer all you need to play quality games of poker at home. The poker chips have different colours and so you can allocate each colour a certain denomination of money which keeps the betting simple and of course with chips you do not even have to bet for money if you and your friends do not want to.

Poker is a card game that allot of people avoid as they think it is very complicated but this is not the case. Firstly you deal two cards to each player and then there are five community cards that can be used by all players, after a blind bet and a couple of rounds of betting after everyone has viewed their cards you place three of the five community cards on the table. You then bet again and then add the fourth card and then bet again and add the fifth card, basically you have to match the bet that someone makes or you can raise the bet which means that everyone has to match that bet of fold their cards.

Poker uses a hierarchy of card combinations which determines who has the strongest hand and they are as follows with the strongest first:

Straight Flush - A run of cards all of the same suit like 3, 4, 5 ,6 and 7 with all of them hearts. A Royal Flush is the best hand possible and is 10, Jack, Queen, King, Ace all of the same suit.

Four Of A Kind - Four of the same denomination such as four Jacks.

Full House - A Three Of A Kind And A Pair, basically a set of three cards such as three Jacks and a pair of cards such as two sevens.

Flush - Five cards of the same suit such as five Diamonds.

Straight - A run of 5 cards like 2, 3, 4, 5 and 6 and the suit does not matter.

Three Of A Kind - Three of the same cards such as three Kings.

Two Pair - Two pairs such as a pair of Kings and a pair of Aces.

Pair - Two cards such as two Kings.

High Card - If no one has any of the above then it simply comes down to who has the highest card.

If two players both have a pair then the highest pair wins and this applies to any of the hands, for example if two players both have a flush then the player that has the highest card in the flush wins. If two players have the same pair then it comes down to who has the highest other card in their hand and this is called the Kicker, for example if two players have a pair of tens but one player has an ace in their hand and the others highest card is a nine then the player with the ace will win.

So poker is a very easy game to play, you just need to remember the order of the hands and then you are sorted. Then all you need are some decent poker chips and you can easily play for hours and it is allot of fun, we have displayed some good poker chips on the right with the cheap deals first.
